I'm David Zhan

I'm a student at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a BSE + MSE in Computer Science along with Minors in Math and Data Science.

Summer 2024, I worked as a SWE intern for a UMD gut health start-up called Ventoscity, building their cross platform mobile application with flutter and swift.

Summer 2025, I was an MLE intern on the AGI team at Amazon, working on optimizing performance of Nova (Amazon flagship LLM) base models through pretraining data enhancement techniques, such as distillation, augmentation, and chain of thought prompting. I also designed and deployed an end to end data augmentation pipeline for unlabeled data that decreased average inference time by a factor of 30.

Summer 2026, I will be working at Google, on the AI infrastructure team within Google Cloud.

My interests include machine learning and backend/infrastructure development. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing sports like soccer, basketball, and tennis. Check out my socials and resume below.
